The opening ceremony of the 2006 Olympics in Turin, produced by Filmmaster, was an epic event that captured the attention of 33,000 spectators in the Olympic Stadium and over 2 billion television viewers worldwide.
More than 2,500 athletes from 80 countries, along with over 6,000 volunteers, took part in the largest show on Earth: the 2006 Turin Olympic Games.
.The dominant theme of this ceremony was Passion, a feeling that unites beyond differences among people. Passion for sports, beauty, creativity, art, style, tradition, and the environment. Italian style and creativity were represented and narrated through unique scenography and choreographies, extraordinary light shows, and a memorable soundtrack. Values of solidarity, brotherhood, and dialogue among peoples and cultures were highlighted by athletes from South and North Korea who marched together for unity. The heart of the show was an extraordinary representation of Italian culture and aesthetics. This spectacle, never seen before, took the audience, numbering over a billion spectators, on a fascinating journey from the Renaissance to the Baroque, the most fertile period of creativity, taste, and culture in our country.
The ceremony was embellished with prominent artistic contributions, with performances that touched the emotional chords of the audience. Among the artists who made the event unforgettable were the first étoile dancer Roberto Bolle, Yoko Ono with her poetic reading of the famous song "Imagine" by her husband John Lennon, and Luciano Pavarotti's performance of "Vincerò." Each of them contributed with their talent and charisma to make the opening ceremony of the 2006 Turin Olympics an extraordinary and unforgettable moment for all spectators. The event culminated with the lighting of the Olympic torch designed and built by Pininfarina, officially marking the beginning of the Olympic Games.
Before the opening ceremony of the 2006 Turin Olympic Games, Filmmaster oversaw the Olympic Flag Handover from Salt Lake City to Turin in 2002. This event not only symbolized the transfer of organizational responsibility from one city to another but also provided a unique opportunity for Italy to showcase its cultural richness, millennia-long history, and Olympic spirit to the world. The flag delivery was a moment of great national pride, an exhilarating showcase of performances that offered a preview to the 2 billion viewers and the 28,000 attendees of the memorable 2006 Turin Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
